Wednesday - Canvasing and Church in the Park

After a good nights sleep we were able to start this morning a little later than the previous mornings. Our morning was spent canvasing the neighborhoods around Gospel Grace. Several groups were able to have Gospel conversations with people out on the streets.

After lunch we headed to Gospel Grace Church for an equipping time. Will Galkin taught out of our theme passage 1 Peter 1:3-4 “Know God’s Power.”  We were all challenged to look at our lives and see what lies we are believing to why we are not growing to be more like Christ. We were exhorted to understand that the same power that rose Jesus from the grave is at work in believers.  We then broke into small groups to discuss how we can apply what we heard to our lives.

Our second equipping session was presented by Jonathan Albright. He spoke on the Gospel for the Irreligious. We reviewed what it means to be irreligious, what the Gospel is and the importance of asking questions. Two questions that can be effective in understanding what and why a person believes what they believe are:
What do you mean by that?
How did you come to that conclusion?

We then spent time praying in preparation to go out into the park.  At the park we split up into groups and used a survey as a tool to start Gospel conversations.  Many of the teams were able to get into conversations, one person even requested a Bible. This was also a time to invite people to Church in the Park. Every Wednesday in the Summer, Gospel Grace holds church in the park. They offer a free meal, Worship together and share the gospel presentation.

We ended the day with a fun youth event! The evening was filled with racing around the city completing tasks in a photo scavenger park. It was a long day filled with great opportunities for the Gospel and it was encouraging watching our youth continue to serve with grateful hearts! Please continue to pray as we serve again today! Also, thanks for your patience as we got back so late last night that the blog did not get posted until this morning :) enjoy yesterday’s pics!
